Sandburg Middle School

7th Grade Parent Conferences

Assembly Bill 1802

Parent/Student Conferences

Recently, additional funding for counseling was made available to secondary schools by the State of California through the passage of Assembly Bill 1802. AB 1802 allows student service coordinators/school counselors an unprecedented opportunity to work with students in a proactive effort to assist and support students in looking at, and planning for current and long term educational and career goals. At the heart of this process are parent/student conferences, the goal being to help you gain a better understanding of:

  • The student's own school attendance, discipline, and academic records
  • Educational options, including college prepatory and vocational programs that are available within the Glendora Unified District
  • Educational coursework and academic progress needed for satisfactory completion of middle school and high school
  • Your students needs related to passing the high school exit exam.

Parent conferences will be conducted at Sandburg Middle School primarily during school hours, and they should take approximately 20 minutes. These conferences are to be held for all seventh graders and their parents as the stipulations of the funding mandate.
